Rubens Santoro (Italian, 1859-1942) Drying the Nets Signed "Rubens Santoro" l. r., identified on a presentation plaque, and with a handwritten label providing provenance affixed to the reverse. Oil on canvas, 10 x 13 1/4 in. (25.4 x 33.7 cm), framed (under glass). Condition: Minor losses. N.B. The label on the reverse states that the painting was a gift from Bessie R. Horton, c. 1935, and had been bought from a friend in Indianapolis, Fannie Estabrook Bryson. The label gives the title of the work simply as "Venice."
