Near Pair of Polychrome Leather Fire Buckets, probably Concord, Massachusetts, late 18th century, the buckets painted black overall with red rims, lettered "A. Haywood" on one, and "A. Heywood" on the other, the names within white banners above the date "1794," foliate elements below, with leather handles fixed to the buckets by leather loops, (paint wear, one handle separated on one side), ht. to rim 10 1/2, 11 in., respectively. Provenance: Reportedly descended in the Heywood family of Concord to Edith Fay (Heywood) Sellors, who died about 1984. Bequeathed by Mrs. Sellors to the consignor's father-in-law.
