British 17th Regiment Marked Flesh Fork, c. 1779, iron flesh fork with a very faint maker's mark, and engraved 17 on the handle, with a note which reads Cooking fork taken from/stores captured from the/British at Stony Pt., July, 1779 , in a wooden case, overall lg. 18 1/2 in. Provenance: Acquired from the descendants of an unidentified New York Revolutionary War soldier in Orange County by the late Radford Curdy, historian of Orange County, New York.
