Sterling Silver-mounted Seabiscuit Race Memorabilia, an engraved white metal horseshoe reading "Massachusetts Handicap -8-7-37- Seabiscuit- 1 1/8 M1 1. 49 New Track Record" mounted to a silver base engraved "Jack McDonald/from/C.S. Howard/1937," ht. 4 7/8 in. N.B. Jack McDonald was a sportswriter who extensively covered Seabiscuit's races in the San Francisco Call-Bulletin , as well as the Los Angeles Herald-Express and International News Service. A similar example recently sold at Eldred's Fall American & Paintings Auction, November 21, 2014, Lot 520.
