The OfferingWilliam Carpenter, London, No. 4531, circa 1790.Fine and rare triple-cased gilt metal and enamelled automaton watch with concealed erotic scene, centre-seconds and stop feature, made for the Oriental market. Notes Carpenter William (1770-1805)is best known for his elaborate musical automata, several examples being preserved in the Peiping Museum. He made watches and automata for the Oriental market. His erotic automata are very rare.
