A nineteenth-century manuscript penmanship book, comprising 36 full pages of writing with elaborate head-pieces, dedication page and frontispiece engraving of James Bonar creating the penmanship book. Presented to Maryann Bonar by her father, James Bonar, January 1, 1813. The other pages are used as scrapbook for clipped woodcut and engraved vignettes clipped from other sources. With seven engraved natural history plates laid-in. 4to, 3/4 red morocco over marbled boards.
