He designed sets for the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, and numerous other theatres across Europe. Pogedaieff was equally as well known for his illustrations for literary works by Russian authors, including Chekhov, Dostoyevsky, and Gogol, splendid examples of which form the present lot.
