A large handmade "Friendship Book" with hand carved wood front and back. The front is decorated with a portion of the antique map "Africae Propriae Tabula," depicting the northern coast of Africa, Malta and the tip of Sicily. The title page of the book is in hand calligraphy: "THE ORTELIUS MAP UPON THE COVER OF THIS BOOK IS DATED 1590....KEEP HERE BENEATH THE SEAL OF HIS CRAFTSMANSHIP, THE RECORD OF YOUR FRIENDSHIPS." The book is made in the style of a hand stitched portfolio scrapbook, with blank pages for a record of friendships.
