A black velvet leotard designed by Adrian for Marion Davies in Polly of the Circus (MGM, 1932). The leotard is embellished with a foliate pattern formed from small rhinestones in casing and sprays of small bugle beads. Davies wore a grey version of this leotard as a trapeze artist in the film. The leotard was later seen in San Francisco (MGM, 1936). Post-production alterations are present. Accompanied by copies of the films. Link to a wardrobe image of Davies modeling a leotard identical to this one. Previously exhibited at The Sharon Landa Gallery in Hollywood, California, 1971.
