Wood box with plaque in the shape of a leg that reads “To Ann Miller A replica of one of your famous lower limbs. Made from Jap. Bomber. 1944/ From some of the boys in New Guinea.” Box contains personal photos (36 original vintage photographs), slides (more than 25), Valentines, telegrams, cards, and gift enclosures primarily from Bill O’Connor, former Assistant Attorney General for the State of California. Also present are letters tied in a ribbon from oilman Grover Collins, two rosaries, and a Reese Milner matchbook. This highly personal collection is a glimpse into the love life and love-loss of Miller. There is a written response to Bill O’Connor’s death in 1959. O’Connor was unhappily married when the couple met. Miller hoped that O’Connor would one day leave his wife. The devout O’Connor never did and Miller married Bill Moss. O’Connor died while Miller was on her honeymoon. Box, 4 1/2 by 8 1/2 by 6 1/4 inches PROVENANCE From the Estate of Ann Miller. Categories: Ann Miller
