This bulletproof vest was worn by the character “Jack Bauer” portrayed by Kiefer Sutherland in the iconic television series “24”. This is an actual police-issue Kevlar vest manufactured by “Second Chance” and is one of only three “Hero” vests in existence that were used by Sutherland throughout the entire series. This exact vest was worn by the actor in multiple scenes of “Day 2: 6:00pm – 7:00pm” (Season 2, Episode 11). In the episode, Bauer can be seen donning this vest just before he enters the mosque where he hopes to capture Syed Ali (Francesco Quinn), the terrorist mastermind threatening to detonate a nuclear weapon in the middle of Los Angeles. Bauer continues to wear the vest in the following sequence when he discovers a burning corpse meant to look like Ali but is not fooled by the deception. As a method actor, Sutherland enjoyed the weight and feel of the vest to stay in character, and even wore it on set breaks between filming while playing chess. The actor is also featured wearing one of the vests in the book 24: Behind The Scenes as well as in promotional images for Season 8.
