Two Early American Indian Stone Effigy Pipes, the larger made from sandstone, with a carved face on the front of the bowl with shell inlay, with paper inventory label, the smaller attributed to the Micmac people, with carved animal on the front of the blackstone bowl, ht. 3 1/4, lg. 3 1/4, and ht. 1 1/2, lg. 3 in. Provenance: Private collection, Boston, Massachusetts; the sandstone pipe, Parke Bernet auctions, New York, August 3, 1976, Lot 340; Evergreen Museum and Library, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland, inventory number 74.2.144.
