Italian Violin and Bow, Eugenio Praga, Genoa, 1892, the violin labeled EUGENIO PRAGA/Premiato con Medaglia/D'ORO/Fece in Genova anno 1892, the bridge stamped E. PRAGA.GENOVA, length of back 356 mm, the silver-mounted bow stamped E.PRAGA GENOVA, weight 49.7 grams, (with original tinsel wrap, and without hair), with case and handwritten note reading "This is a genuine Praga Violin, brought from Italy by D.B. Martinelli June 1892. I value it at $75.00. Jas. J. Moloney." Provenance: James J. Moloney, by family descent. Estimate $30,000-50,000 In excellent condition. Slightly open back center seam at lower bout, approximately 3 cm. Minor surface scratches and abrasions. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
