Charles Meryon (French, 1821-1868) Le Petit Pont, 1850, probably the fourth state of nine (Schneiderman, 20iv). Monogrammed within the plate, collector's mark (see below) on verso, identified on a label from Frederick Keppel & Co., New York, affixed to the backing. Etching on cream Japan paper, plate size 10 1/4 x 7 1/2 in. (26.0 x 18.6 cm), framed. Condition: Unobtrusive toning, gentle rippling, not examined out of frame. Provenance: Ex-collection of financier and print collector Charles H. Ellingwood, New York, per collector's mark (Lugt, 822); through to a Massachusetts estate.
