Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo (Italian, 1727-1804) The Holy Family Disembarking, from the series Flight Into Egypt, 1753, final state of two (DeVesme, 18; Rizzi, 84ii/ii). Unsigned. Etching on heavy laid paper with partial watermark of three crescents and crowned "W," plate size 7 1/2 x 9 5/8 in. (19.0 x 24.3 cm), matted, unframed. Condition: Deckled edges to three sides, gently light-struck, minor soiling to margins, cockling to upper edge, annotated "XVIII" in pencil l.l. Estimate $700-900 The sheet is a laid paper with watermark as described (see images as well) and measures 9 15/16 x 14 11/16 in.There is minor soiling to the verso as well as the margins. There are two softly pressed vertical creases through the image on the right side of the composition. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
