Joab Hapgood Percussion Pistol, c. 1840s, .36 caliber, walnut stock with brass fittings, lock marked "J. HAPGOOD" and engraved with foliate designs, unmarked octagonal barrel with an iron rear sight and brass front sight, barrel lg. 9 1/4, overall lg. 14 3/4 in. Note: Captain Joab Hapgood (1804-1890), from Boston and Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, built guns between 1826 and 1864. Estimate $300-500 Stock has a few dings and nicks, the lock functions but fires from half cock, and the bore is good. Overall in very good condition.
