Five-case Maki-e Inro, Japan, 19th century, decorated with a scene of houses in the mountains, the reverse showing a river and waterfowl, with black and red lacquer details, signed on base "Kajikawa" and sealed, with a detached resin netsuke of a man and a baby, inro lg. 3 3/4 in. Estimate $300-500 Missing string, loss to lacquer at corner of one compartment, minor losses at edges. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
