Carved Windsor Fan-back Armchair, New England, late 18th century, the crest with scroll-carved terminals, the arms with boldly carved knuckle handholds, refinished, ht. 43 1/2, seat ht. 19 in. Provenance: Lincoln & Jean Sander, American Antiques, Redding, Connecticut, 1988. Estimate $1,000-1,500 refinish is over vestiges of earlier gray/green paint.
