Fairbairn Sykes Type III Fighting Knife, c. 1942, aluminum grip, blued steel blade etched "Sgt. W.D. Lewis/RA18259862" on one side of the blade and "5th Spec. For./U.S. Army" on the other, with a leather scabbard marked on the back "North Africa/1st Ranger Bn.," blade lg. 6 1/2, overall lg. 11 1/8 in. Provenance: The collection of Nicholas A. Penachio. Estimate $300-500 Some wear on the blade from use and patina on the grip.
