German Matchlock Wall Gun, c. 17th century, .92 caliber, walnut stock, iron fittings, iron octagonal to round barrel, stock has a cartouche to the rear of the lock plate, lock plate marked with a small illegible rectangular cartouche, left flat of barrel marked with a small round stamp with a "Z" inside, top flat of barrel marked with a small illlegible round stamp, wooden ramrod, barrel lg. 45, overall lg. 64 in. Provenance: Purchased at The Armoury of Their Serene Highnesses the Princes zu Salm-Reifferscheidt-Dyck (Part I) Christie's, April 15, 1992. Estimate $3,000-5,000 Some wood loss on the stock and a worm holes, and the lock functions properly.
