Alexander Megarey Vernier Surveyor's Compass, New York, first half 19th century, 6-in. silvered dial with engraved central star and fleur-de-lis representing north, signed "Alexn. Megarey New York," lacquered brass arms with dual spirit levels, and fine adjustment vernier knob, housed in the original mahogany box, lg. 16 in. Estimate $400-600 replaced dial glass is loss, original tripod, one side of box is replaced, lacking one sighting vane screw.
