Condition: Abrasions, retouch to large area at left edge. Provenance: Purchased at the 1980 auction sale of Ernest Hall's estate in Sturbridge, Massachusetts. Note: William Willard was a prominent mid-19th century portrait painter, based in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, whose list of sitters includes Abraham Lincoln, Chief Justice Appleton of Maine, and other New England public figures.
