[Leeds: Alf Cooke], ca. 1920. Nesbitt, in Chinese costume, presents the smoke vase effect, the smoke curling into the air and forming the text of the design. A direct copy of a famous poster used by Chung Ling Soo, the "Marvelous Chinese Conjurer." Nesbitt was one of several magicians who attempted to take up Soo's mantle after the latter's untimely death on stage. Designed by the artist Jim Affleck [?]. 19x 28 ". Old fold visible. A-.
