Antique fusee pocket watch, marked to inside back case and inside works cover with 18k mark, town mark of Newcastle or Chester with a crowned lion’s head and makers mark of TH/JH, possibly Thomas and John Hilsby. Works are signed Josp. Johnson, Liverpool, 4082. Face and inner case heavily chased, decorated with white, rose and yellow gold acanthus leaves and a cornucopia of flowers. Weight of .41 ozt or 137.3 g. Provenance: descended in the Ball family (of Mary Ball Washington fame).
