Embroidered Gauze Dragon Robe, China, late 19th/early 20th century, embroidered with nine dragons on the front, shoulders, back, and inside flap, surrounded by clouds, bats, and Buddhist emblems, all above a crashing wave and lishui border, lg. 44 in. Provenance: Purchased by Edmund Newton Harvey (1887-1959), a Princeton professor, on one of his research trips conducted in 1917 or 1919.
