Chamberlain (English (Worcester), founded 1783-), circa early 19th century. A fine porcelain 3-piece fruit cooler in the "Dragon in Compartments" pattern having a round body raised on four bun feet with flaring squared handles at shoulder, a round insert with overhanging rim, and a round dished lid with scroll finial, the set finely hand painted with an Orientalist motif in tones of red, green, blue, and pink to a white ground with traditional Chinese motif of fu dogs, dragons, peony blossoms, diaper patterning, and floral scrolls. Apparently unmarked. Overall approximate height 9.375", width over handles 9". Note: Chamberlain merged with Flight, Barr & Barr in 1840. A similar pattern to this is often attributed as Bengal Tiger.
