the even colored stone of rectangular section raised on a spread foot, carved on both sides with taotie masks formed by phoenix, flanked by a pair of scroll handles and flanges in the form of foliate scrolls, the domed cover decorated with lotus leaves and surmounted by a knob finial. Height 5 1/2 inches. Overall good condition with no apparent chips, cracks or restoration.
