Helen Hyde (American (New York/ California/ Illinois) 1868-1919). "The Bamboo Gate", etching in colors on Japon, monogrammed upper left "HH" over seal mark, pencil inscribed lower left "Copyright 1915 by Helen Hyde", and pencil signed lower right "Helen Hyde". Figural etching depicting a young Japanese woman dressed in traditional blue flowered robes sheltering herself from the rain under an umbrella as she crosses through an open bamboo gate, the foreground reflective with standing water and the background darkened by storm clouds. Sheet size approximately 10.5" x 8" (edges vary). Image size approximately 7" x 5.125".
