Attributed to Aaron Dean Fletcher (Vermont and New York, 1817-1902) Portrait of a Man, early 19th century. Unsigned. Oil on panel, the red haired gentleman is depicted in a bust-length portrait with a cream-colored linen shirt, a black cravat, and a burnt sienna waistcoat under a dark coat, 24 x 19 3/4 in., unframed. Condition: Original surface, including some abrasions and a slight warp. Note: Aaron Dean Fletcher , who was born in Springfield, Vermont, taught himself to paint at an early age. Ill health contributed to his sparse productivity in Keeseville, New York, where he moved in 1840.
