Watercolor and ink on paper, laid down on cardboard, with eagle in sunburst surrounded by stars, clutching olive branch in his talons and banner reading "E Pluribus Unum"; above two figures holding flags, the figure on the left in soldier's dress carrying a shield and a staff, the figure on the right riding a reined dolphin, wearing a spotted pelt, carrying a trident and standing in a shell; between them lie two cannon, cannonballs, and an anchor, and beyond at right, a warship in full sail flying an American flag, 10 1/4 x 8 3/4 in., unframed. Condition: small tear c.r.
