Heinrich Aldegrever (German, 1502-circa 1561) Absalom Killing His Brother Amnon, from THE HISTORY OF AMNON AND TAMAR, 1540, probably the first state (before the plate was numbered). Monogrammed, dated and identified in the plate. Engraving on paper, image/sheet size 4 3/4 x 3 in. (12.0 x 7.5 cm), framed. Condition: Trimmed to or within the platemark, gentle rippling, not examined out of frame.
