Ives "Lever Spring" Timepiece, Joseph Ives, Bristol, Connecticut, circa 1850-60, in a mahogany case with paper on zinc dial, brass bezel, spires flanking the upper section and lower access door housing a thirty-day lever spring, dual wind, brass timepiece movement with tinned-iron wheel work, lantern pinions, cast iron frame supporting the eight blade leaf spring and winding mechanism all mounted on a pine backboard lined with green paper, (restored; lacking hands), ht. 16 in. This movement is illustrated in Kenneth D. Roberts, The Contributions of Joseph Ives to Connecticut Clock Technology, 1810-1862 , pages 286-287.
