Mahogany "Brooklyn" Lever Spring Shelf Clock by Joseph Ives, Brooklyn, New York, circa 1825-1830, with 10 1/2 in. dia. iron dial with Roman numerals, brass bezel, pressed brass rosettes supporting the head section, lower box with looking glass and printed maker's label inside stating in part Manufactured by Joseph Ives, Brooklyn, Long Island, New York, Warranted if Well Used , carved paw feet in front, turned in the back, eight-day, riveted strap brass movement with count wheel strike, roller pinions and iron wagon spring mounted in the base, ht. 29 in. Literature: Kenneth Roberts, The Contributions of Joseph Ives to Connecticut Clock Technology, 1810-1862 , pps. 83-86. Replacement dial, original hands, rosettes, pendulum, movement leaf springs, looking glass backed with card and appears to be the original, case refinished.
