Charles Frodsham Eight-Day Marine Chronometer, London, in a two-tiered rosewood box with brass mounts and ivory name boss, 4 1/2 in. silvered dial engraved Charles Frodsham, 84 Strand, London, No. 2718 , up-down indicator, seconds dial, brass hour and minute hands, lacquered brass bowl and gimbal, spotted plates, bi-metallic balance, helical hairspring, detent escapement, fusee and chain, box ht. 8, wd. 8, dp. 8 in. Note: According to family tradition, the timekeeper came to a Connecticut seaport with whaling Captain Weil, passed to C.C. Markham in the late 19th century and sold by the John Markham estate in 1972. Movement in running condition although could use a cleaning, old surface on box, brass components with old lacquered surface.
