Cuzco School, 18th/19th Century Christ with the Instruments of the Passion Unsigned. Oil on canvas, 49 1/2 x 33 in. (125.7 x 83.8 cm), framed. Condition: Partially lined, retouch/repairs, losses, tears, craquelure, surface grime. Provenance: Private New England Collection Canvas deformations, approximately nine cloth patches to the reverse with the largest area approx. 20 1/2 x 25 1/4 in., strip lined, grime/dust on surface and on reverse, canvas on stretcher bars nailed to frame (i.e. not inset into frame rabbet), mounting bubbles, retouch to area of Christ''s left sleeve (approx. 2 x 2 in.), some areas strengthened by retouch in u.l. quadrant, including angel''s wing, extensive retouch to area above Christ''s head and to the left of Christ''s feet.
