Roland (Eduard Krause). The Great Roland. Prague: V. Neubert, ca. 1912. Full-length portrait poster of the Czech magician in white tie and tails, arms crossed over his chest. The background is filled with a blend of bright reds and yellows. 27 1/2 x 78". Over-coloring in margins and scattered throughout image; B+. Uncommon. Often compared to the famous illusionist Horace Goldin, Roland retired from the stage after the first World War and returned to his hometown, Prague, where he worked as a dentist for the rest of his life.
