Continental, late 19th/early 20th century. A marquetry inlaid 'Handkerchief ' folding games or corner table having a metamorphic design with two triangular shaped hinged leaves that are marquetry inlaid and centered with medallion enclosing foliage and bird perched on urn, flipped to the reverse surface inlaid with dice and card motif and centered with inlaid checker or chess board. When not 'in play', the table folds over to transform into a corner console, or the hinged action allows for the top to fold down vertically for storage or transport with two swing legs and two affixed legs. Approximate height open to playing surface 29.75", width open, 29.25", depth open 29.25". Approximate height as console, 30.6", width as console 37", depth as console 18". Approximate height with leaves down 31.8", width 37", depth 6.25".
