Chinese, 19th Century. Chinese bridal or ceremonial headdress ornamented with Kingfisher feather, silk, enamel, brass, pearls, coral, assorted semi-precious stones. This headdress features metal mounts into which iridescent blue feathers of the Kingfisher have been laid. In China the Kingfishers feathers were a prized material that was inlaid into metal to make earring, necklaces, bracelets, headdresses and combs, screens, carriages and many other decorated items. Headdress comes with stand. Height 6.5", width 19", depth 7", the stand measures 7" in height.
