English Embroidered Panel, second half 17th/early 18th century, depicting a central seated figure playing the lyre and surrounded by recumbent animals and insects, with figures representing the four cardinal virtues of justice, prudence, fortitude, and temperance to each corner, polychrome silk thread on cream-colored silk ground, long and short stitched with some raised elements, framed, sight size 9 3/8 x 8 1/4 in. Fading, tears and puncture to upper right section, not examined out of frame.
