Sold for:
$180

Staffordshire Black Transfer-printed Creamware Mug, England, 18th century, with inscription "Jesus, my All, to heav'n is gone, He whom I fix my hopes upon; His track I fee, and I'll pursue, The narrow way, till him I view.," ht. 4 3/4 in. 1 1/2" rim hairline; a few slight glaze nicks to engine turned bands. There is some question as to whether this may be a very refined saltglazed stoneware rather than creamware. Tests done on the glaze showed that it is creamware.
