Attributed to Eastman Johnson (American, 1824-1906) Study for The Cranberry Harvest Unsigned. Oil on canvas, 5 1/2 x 8 3/4 in. (14.0 x 22.3 cm), framed in a liner. Condition: Lined on aluminum, tack holes to corners. N.B. Correspondence concerning the work is included with the lot. In a letter dated November 9, 1983, Dr. Patricia Hills attributed the work to Eastman Johnson, describing it as "...most likely one of the many studies he made on Nantucket before his large finished work of 1880 called 'The Cranberry Harvest.'" There is also an appraisal from James St.L. O'Toole, New York, from 1973.
