Brass Simple Theodolite by Caleb Leach, with trough compass signed Caleb Leach, Maker, 1792, purchased needle with engraved N / S directionals, later(? ) sliding mica compass-cover, rotating horizontal circle divided 0-90 in four quadrants and unusual double 0/0 demarcation for North, on brass cross-strut with slide-on tripod mount and two double-hinged folding sights, dia. 6 in., in fitted mahogany case with brass loop handle.
