Rare Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania silk on linen needlework sampler , inscribed "Jane Fulton aged nine yrs. Done at Mrs. Callan's School. Pittsburgh. April the seventh 1826", with birds and basket of flowers, over a school yard scene, the brick school inscribed "Academy", over verse, all within a floral and vine border, 16 1/2" x 16". Jane Fulton was born November 15, 1814 in Westmoreland, PA, daughter of Henry Fulton and Rebecca Jack.
