“The Tulip Bud” The case made circa 1630. The movement and dial specially made by A=Anto. Lasacher, Colln, circa 1730. Fine and rare silver gilt and rock crystal tulip form watch. Four-body, three rock crystal tulip-like petals with engraved bezels hinged to a symmetrical frame of triangular cross section, the body chased with flowers and foliage, gilt brass pendant shaped as a flower stalk. Silver-gilt, radial Roman numerals with outer minute track and Arabic five minute numerals, central signature cartouche, foliate engraved gilt dial plate. Blued steel hands. Egg-shaped, 23 x 20 mm, full plate gilt brass, faceted baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm steel balance, irregular single footed winged cock pierced with a foliate coat of arms and fastened by a screw, blued steel and silver regulation dial. Dial and movement signed. Dim. 34 x 28 mm. Notes The case of this watch and possibly the dial plate date from the first half of the 17th Century. The movement and dial have been specially made by Lasacher for this case around 1730, probably at the request of the family whose arms appear on the balance cock. Alberten Lasacher (or Lasacker) Is recorded as working in Cologne in the 1730s.
