“Pearl Sunburst” Balsiger & Fils, Genève, circa 1830. Very fine and rare, 18K gold and pearl-set pendant watch. Two-body, hinged sprung bezel set with pearls and seed pearls, the back set with seed pearls and pearls in a radiating design. Gold with applied radial Roman numerals, outer minute markers, vari-colored gold foliate border, engine-turned center. Blued steel “lozenge” hands. 32 mm., frosted gilt full-plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, brass three-arm balance, pierced and chased continental balance cock. Signed on the dial and movement. Diam. 44 mm. Notes Jean-Jacob Balsiger Originally from the Niedermuhlern canton of Berne in Switzerland, he settled in Geneva in 1791 with his two sons.
