“Ref. 6062” Rolex, “Oyster Perpetual, Officially Certified Chronometer”, Ref. 6062. Case No. 942662. Made in 1953. Very fine and very rare, astronomic, antimagnetic, self-winding, water-resistant, stainless steel gentleman's wristwatch with triple date, moon phases and a stainless steel Jubilee Bracelet. Two-body, polished and brushed, screwed-down case back and crown. Matte silver with applied gold dart indexes and Arabic quarters, subsidiary seconds, outer graduation for the days of the month in blue, apertures for the days of the week, the months and the moon phases. Luminous gold “Alpha" hands. Notes Reference 6062 was produced from 1950 to 1953 in 350 examples, in 18K yellow gold, 50 examples in 18K pink gold and very few in stainless steel. The yellow gold 6062 remained in the Rolex catalogue until 1960. It is interesting to note that in period advertising this watch was referred to as the Oyster Perpetual “COSMOGRAPH”.
