“Chronostat Deck Watch” L. Leroy & Cie., Paris, No. 2000, ATO Patent. Made in the 1970s. Fine mahogany Chronostat III electric deck watch, in original fitted mahogany traveling box. Two-body mahogany, rectangular with glazed lid. White with Arabic numerals, outer minute track and subsidiary seconds. Blued steel "alpha" hands. Transistor controlled electrical impulse, chronometer pattern Guillaume balance, free sprung blued steel helical balance spring. Dial, case and movement signed. Dim. 17 x 13 x 9 cm. Notes The Chronostat III deck watches were tested for the first time with the new rules specially set out for battery-powered chronometers. Eight Chronostat III deck watches were presented for the contest, six of which were successful and were bought by the Navy. Two others were accepted although not fully successful, and had to be adjusted by the maker. Only two were refused.
