“Renaissance Style” Planchon, Palais Royal, No. 4849. Made circa 1880. Fine and unusual, miniature, silver, Renaissance style 8-day going desk clock with fitted plush case. Rectangular, pierced and foliate engraved domed top, 4 berry and leaf finials, the sides each engraved with a female figure under a canopy with flowers and animals, polished oval bezel, turned feet. Oval, silver, engraved with flowers, inhabited foliage and mermaids, polished chapter ring with radial Roman numerals and star half-hour indexes, the center engraved with a scene of a lady looking at her reflection in a hand mirror. Rectangular, brass plates, going barrel, lateral lever escapement mounted on a platform, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator. Dim. 7.5 x 3.5 x 3.5 cm.
