FIRINO - QUARTER-REPEATING À TOC WATCH ALLEGORY OF ASTRONOMY Firino A Paris, No. 120. Made circa 1770. Very fine and rare, Louis XV, quarter-repeating à toc, 20K gold, painted on enamel and rose-cut diamond-set pocket watch with outer protecting case. Two-body, Louis XV, the bezel decorated with blue and red enamel over a chased wave pattern and set with rose-cut diamonds, pendant and thumb-piece set with large rose-cut diamonds, the back with a monochrome pink painted on enamel allegory of astronomy, chased and engraved laurel border. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and Arabic fi ve-minute numerals. Rose-cut diamond-set hands. 33 mm., matte gilt, full-plate, fuse and chain, verge escapement, three-arm steel balance, fl at balance spring, pierced and foliate engraved continental balance cock with polished steel endplate, silver regulation dial, repeating on the inside of the case activated by depressing the pendant. Dial and movement signed, case with French hallmarks. Diam. 41 mm.
