Important pair of Philadelphia Chippendale walnut dining chairs, ca. 1770 , the serpentine shell carved crest with incised scrolling ears above a pierced and voluted splat with c-scrolls, over a slip seat resting in a shell carved frame supported by cabriole legs with shell carved knees terminating in ball and claw feet, retains the original yellow pine seat frames. Provenance: Delaware Museum of Natural History.
